Winners of the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival Awards

December 27, 2010 - Tonyo Cruz

Comedy flick Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na Po Ito) took home top prizes in the awards night for the ongoing 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

The Star Cinema production won the top prizes for best picture, best actress, best supporting actress, best director and several other awards.

Comedy King Dolphy meanwhile took the best actor and best supporting actor trophies for his roles in two separate movies, Father Jejemon and Rosario, respectively.

Kris wins no award

Horror flick Dalaw did not win any award, despite the star power provided by so-called Queen of Philippine Media Kris Aquino as its lead star and the full-throated endorsement from her most famous older brother, President Benigno Aquino III.

Different box office results

Box office results however look different from the awards night results: Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote, an action/fantasy/comedy headlined by Senator Bong Revilla and comedian Vic Sotto topped ticket sales starting on Christmas Day.

Sotto’s Enteng Kabisote and Okay Ka, Fairy Ko franchises have also ruled previous MMFF box office numbers.

The festival also featured RPG Metanoia, the Philippines’ first full-length CG-animated feature film in 3D, and the 12th edition of the Shake, Rattle and Roll horror flick from Regal Films.

The MMFF is an annual project of the Metro Manila Development Authority, with support from the local governments of the National Capital Region.

Entries to the MMFF are shown from Christmas Day and for the next two to three weeks in Metro Manila theaters, as well as in some provinces. No other films are shown during the festival so Filipinos are encouraged to support their local show business industry.
