Romantic travel destinations in Asia this Valentine’s Day
HERE are some ideas for a romantic trip with the one you love this Valentine’s Day.
Seaside break
There are plenty of sunny destinations to bask in together around Asia with numerous archipelagos, coastal locations and sandy shores for holidaying couples across the region. Bali, Flores or Lombok in Indonesia are perfect for evening strolls, sunbathing or diving. You could head to Malaysia’s Perhentian islands for some RNR on hideaway beaches, dive the wonders of Sipadan off southern Sabah or unwind in the luxurious resorts of Langkawi. Thailand too has any number of island groups. Go quiet and laid-back on the Tarutao Archipelago, head for the resort action of Phuket or Krabi or the pumping full moon parties on Ko Pha Ngan.

Adventure
If beach side strolls and candlelight dinners aren’t for you, then consider something exotic with your loved one this year. You could take in the ancient cities of Sri Lanka, do a wildlife safari in any of India’s amazing national parks, go trekking in Nepal or sojourn in the amazing isolated kingdom of Bhutan.
Romance
Asia might not have classically romantic cities like Paris or Venice, but there are equivalents. Bangkok is known as the Venice of the east with its many canals and waterways. The desert state of Rajasthan in India is packed with vistas right out of the Arabian nights with hill top fortresses, camel safaris in the desert, ancient palaces and exotic spice markets. The watery vistas of Halong Bay in Vietnam are perfect for romantic couples and best explored on a houseboat. Or head to the amazing karst region of Yangshuo in China’s Guangxi Province where you can cycle through limestone outcrops or cruise the waterways on small boats.

Go country
Escape the cities altogether and spend some time in tranquil surrounds. Head to Ubud in Bali’s central region and stay in villas amongst the paddy fields. Sojourn in Pai in Northern Thailand and enjoy waterfalls, hot springs and traditional massage. There are plenty of picturesque, and cool, tea growing areas from the Cameron Highlands in Malaysia to India’s Darjeeling district and Sri Lanka’s high country around Kandy. Vietnam’s central highlands or the far north west are also areas to escape the crowds and enjoy the greenery or head to Yunnan in China for some amazing areas such as Tiger Leaping Gorge.
Hit the city lights
City destinations are perfect for eating, shopping and sightseeing with limitless entertainment options. You can book a table for two at superb restaurants anywhere from Osaka to Seoul, Bangkok, Penang or Hanoi; play at being tourists in Kuala Lumpur, Sydney or Auckland; and take in the neon lights of Hong Kong, the casinos of Macau or the shopping in Singapore.
