340 Russian tourists stranded in Phuket…
Lanta Tour Voyage’s bankruptcy has led to 340 Russian tourists being stranded in Phuket. The Russian Consulate is trying to take care of the tourists, who have not been able to check out of their hotels, by negotiating hotel discounts up to 40%. According to the Phuket Gazette: “Most of the Russians stranded bought tours of 10 days or longer, staying at resorts in Patong and Kata-Karon.”
Wandering goat captured near Melbourne Zoo…
Melbourne cops experienced a thrilling chase yesterday after a goat was found wandering the suburb of Parkville. Melbourne Zoo claims that the goat wandering around Tullamarine Highway did not belong to them. The escapee was captured by the police and a news crew at 2.30pm. Yen Tu Buddhist Spring Festival begins in Vietnam…
Vietnam’s northern coastal province of Quang Ninh marks the start of The Yen Tu Pagoda Spring Festival with a ceremony and procession that offered incense to King King Tran Nhan Tong who devoted his life to Buddhism. The pilgrimage route starts at the foot of Mount Yen Tu and ends at Dong Pagoda, atop the mountain’s highest peak. A true celebration of Buddhism, it is believed that the Kind denounced his throne and followed Buddhism whole-heartedly at Mount Yen Tu after being inspired by the natural beauty and landscape of the area.
