What makes it special?
The Long Life Hotel stands in a rowhouse-style building at Ba Trieu Street in Hoi An’s backpacker district; tourist buses often disgorge their passengers along this road. Beyond the elegant façade you’ll find the hotel’s 20 spacious suites, accessible via stairs from the narrow lobby area. [caption id="attachment_28557" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Long Life Hotel, Hoi An"]Long Life Hotel, Hoi An[/caption] As befitting a hotel in one of Vietnam’s best-preserved old towns, the décor in the Long Life Hotel hearkens back to Vietnam's bygone imperial era: ample use of white surfaces, polished marble, and lacquered wood create the vibe of days long past. The rear of the hotel leads out to a bamboo bridge that crosses a creek to lead to the dining pavilion and the hotel’s small swimming pool. Breakfast is served in the pavilion; not a buffet-style thing, but you will check items off a menu and the staff will prepare your choices for you.
What to expect?
Expect three-star accommodations and amenities on a budget befitting hotels with two stars or less; 20 guestrooms each come with bathroom en suite with Jacuzzi bathtubs, access to free WiFi, and a choice of views either to Ba Trieu Street in front or the garden and rice fields in the rear. Room sizes range from 28 sq. m. to 32 sq. m.; enough space for a party of three. [caption id="attachment_28558" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Long Life Hotel, Hoi An,"][/caption] Long Life Hotel’s location at Ba Trieu Street may put it at a remove from Hoi An Old Town, but the gap isn’t that far: you can reach the Old Town in 10 minutes if going on foot, and if you rent a bike at the hotel’s front desk, you can reach the Old Town in less than three minutes. The front desk can also arrange tour packages and airport transfers for you. If you want to make your own arrangements online, you can use one of the computers in the lobby area; computer use is free for guests.
What’s the damage?
Rates vary depending on the season; for peak seasons, you can expect to pay between $28 to $45 depending on room type. Visit their website to check for special offers. In any case, the Long Life Hotel’s good location and comfy vibe make for a great value, even at full price. Long Life Hotel, 30 Ba Trieu Street, Hoi An Ancient Town, Quang Nam Province, Vietnam.
