Knai Bang Chatt is a designer lifestyle resort located in Kep, right on the south eastern coastline of Cambodia and provides visitors with a blend of privacy, serenity and exclusivity.
This 3 Villa resort is composed of eleven rooms that are individually decorated with their own identity and taste.
The villas are designed with large terraces open to breathtaking views of the sea and islands. The surrounding garden space is perfect for yoga and meditation.
Whether you're celebrating your honeymoon, anniversary, wedding, family reunion or planning a staff retreat, Knai Bang Chatt is the place for you. Its natural beauty combined with a sense of history and great Khmer hospitality will make your stay in Cambodia unforgettable.
Three renovated villas built in the 1970s by protégés of Vann Molyvann, a pupil of the world renowned Le Corbusier, are extraordinary historical landmarks you can now experience as your very own private home.
The sailing club is an ideal sunset bar and restaurant on the Kep's coastal line, with the ability to host up to 50 people for a proper sit down dinner.
The restaurant and bar is a former fishermen's house built with its own pier and a dock where you can swim and sunbathe or simply sit and watch the sunset and fishing boats returning home with their catches.
Relaxation and basking in tranquillity is a key element at Knai Bang Chatt. You can get an invigorating massage by qualified Shiatsu therapists by the beach or beside the salt water infinity pool.
One can also unwind in seclusion during a yoga or meditation session while absorbing the magnificent panorama from one of the room's terraces. Sessions are guided by experienced professional yoga and meditation teachers.
"Knai Bang Chatt doesn't seem quite sure about whether it's a hotel or some kind of glorified B&B, but either way it provides the best luxury accommodation in Kep. Situated right on the sea front, Knai Bang Chatt's perfectly maintained gardens provide the perfect location from which to contemplate the islands that dot the bay – especially at sunset (the gardens face west). The infinity pool is big enough for a real swim, although most guests use it as a place too col down after sunning themselves on the comfortable loungers and sun beds.
The architecture at the hotel (buildings are in the tradition of Cambodia's most famous architect, Vann Molyvann) is pared down, clean and refined. Rooms, while small, are thoughtfully decorated and the beds comfortable (a great relief in a country where most hotel beds are rock hard). The hotel's peace and quiet is another aid to restful nights. Breakfast (and any other meals) are taken at a long communal table facing the sea. The food is excellent – a mix of Western and Khmer dishes – and the drinks list offers cocktails, beers and wines as well as refreshing fruit drinks.
The location is spot on, a five-minute stroll from the crab market - about the only place in town worth visiting as a tourist (Kep is not really tourism central, and if you're looking for loads of activities, cosmopolitan restaurants and boutique shopping, look elsewhere). Staff combine professionalism with a sunny, smiling attitude. They really make you feel as if ensuring that you have a pleasant stay is their ultimate goal." Wine Hack, London, UK
"Really a special experience and location. I'm looking at other reviews that complain about the price point, and I think that kind of comment has to be put in perspective. This hotel has stunning modernist architecture, great interior design, and picture perfect views across the Gulf of Thailand. And it's $200 per night. I can't think of anywhere besides Cambodia where you can get this kind of deal. Yeah, there are certainly cheaper options, but if you are into aesthetics and have the budget, then this is unquestionably the place to stay.
It's fair to say that the rooms are a bit rustic. And, of course, this being Cambodia and not Hawaii, things like perfect air conditioning aren't necessarily guaranteed (actually, ours worked fine, but I read some other comments). But I'm still confused how anyone would give a place with such stunning ambiance anything other than 5 stars. We've traveled all over and stayed at a range of high end places - Amans, Oberoi, etc. This was one of the truly memorable hotels. Definitely hoping to go back before the town gets overrun with development." Dbeach82, LA, California
