Old-Style Charm on a Budget
Urban Budget Hotel From USD $28
Hoi An, , Vietnam
20 Bedrooms, sleeps 2
From USD $28
Set ten minutes from Hoi An’s Old Town, the Long Life Hotel serves budget travelers with a surfeit of old-world charm: three-star amenities on a budget befitting hotels with two stars or less.
Long Life Hotel’s location Ba Trieu Street may set it at some distance from the Hoi An Old Town, but it’s close enough: ten minutes on foot, less if by bike (rentable at the hotel’s front desk), making a stay at this charming Hoi An hotel worth the low price.
The hotel has two names it uses concurrently: Long Life and Thanh Xuan (the latter just means "long life" in Vietnamese). Within its quaint structure, the Long Life Hotel offers 20 spacious suites, some with views to either Ba Trieu Street in front or the garden and rice fields in the rear.
The hotel’s décor attempts to recreate Vietnam's bygone imperial era through the ample use of white surfaces, polished marble, and lacquered wood. The effect is considerably lightened by the natural light streaming through the windows.
The rear exit leads to a bamboo bridge that connects guests to the hotel’s swimming pool and dining pavilion. The pavilion serves breakfast for guests in the morning; the swimming pool lets a few guests take a dip at a time (due to its small size). If you want to explore the rest of Hoi An, you can arrange with the front desk for bicycle rentals, tour packages, and airport transfers.
Deluxe Room: These 28 sq. m. rooms come with a bathroom en suite with Jacuzzi bathtub and access to free WiFi. Other room amenities include a mini-fridge, sleeping net, and writing desk.
Deluxe Room with City View: slightly larger than the Deluxe Room at 30 sq. m., with the addition of French doors to the private balcony overlooking Ba Trieu Street.
Deluxe Room with Garden and Rice Field View: Facing the rear of the building, the views of these 32 sq. m. rooms look out to the hotel’s garden and the rice fields beyond it.
The garden “restaurant” serves breakfast to guests – not buffet-style, but guests are encouraged to choose from a menu.
The hotel’s small garden has just about enough room for a tiny swimming pool, almost no larger than a giant Jacuzzi. Bicycle rentals available. Tour services available upon request.
"This hotel was a positive surprise for us. It has a lovely little garden that serves a good breakfast. The room that we stayed in was like a little suite with a jacuzzi and overall this hotel is good value for money.” - TripAdvisor
“I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The room was really comfortable and peaceful. Although one tip on the rooms..request one with an outside facing window if you can. Our room was in the middle, so our windows faced an open air stairway, rather than facing outside with a view. The pool was lovely overlooking a small rice paddie. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We were really happy with the staff. One woman in particular (whom I think was a manager) had all kinds of advice about things to do. We were not in the main old town, but it was a very short stroll. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here! ” - Agoda
“The Long Life Hotel in Hoi An, Vietnam is also known as the Thanh Xuan Hotel (‘thanh xuan’ means ‘long life’ in Vietnamese). Whatever name you choose to use, you'll discover a lot to like about this Hoi An hotel: its convenient location in Hoi An's hotel and restaurant row, its 20 tastefully-decorated and spacious suites, its sunny swimming pool (weather permitting), and its very agreeable price.” - About.com
