World heritage rainforest retreat

The O’Reilly’s family has been welcoming visitors to their rainforest retreat for almost 100 years. In fact Lamington National Park was declared just four years after the family first moved there, effectively leaving them as the solo, and ongoing, pioneers in the area.

For three generations they’ve worked to maintain their family heritage in this unique environment and family members are still involved in welcoming visitors to one of the most bio-diverse hot spots in Australia.

Rooms use locally sourced Queensland wood and feature open decks with fantastic views over the rainforest. And they don’t have televisions or phones so guests can best commune with nature without any distractions.

If that isn’t enough they’ve also go the Lost World Spa on site for the ultimate in rejuvenation and relaxation with natural therapy treatments.

There are a range of guest rooms available at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat:

Garden View rooms: The most economic of the rooms are motel style with red cedar shutters, queen sized beds, private ensuites and views of the gardens.

Mountain View rooms: These popular rooms usually have a queen and single bed, while some have additional bedding. The room has natural timbers and high set ceilings and a private deck.

Canopy Suites: The two units in this section of the rainforest retreat was once the family home of one of the O’Reilly families. Each unit has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, fireplace and large decks with wonderful views. Polished timber, spa baths, cedar shutters and beautiful Queensland Maple furniture add the final touches.

There are also three suites with a single bedroom.

Bithongabel Single Room: The perfect place for the lone traveler with a single bed, ensuite bathroom and balcony.

There are no televisions or phones in the rooms so visitors will have no distractions from the natural world. All guests may sit by the fireplace in the Library, browse the Stinson rescue archives, take part in the guided Discovery Program and enjoy refreshments or food in the bar, dining room or café.

Some packages include bed and breakfast and even complimentary wine tasting. However meals and snacks are available at one of the three dining options at O’Reilly’s including O’Reilly’s Rainforest Room Bar, the Dining Room and Mountain Café.

The Dining Room serves delicious food and a good selection of accompanying wines, including O’Reilly’s own vintages. Meals are at set times and dinner requires bookings.

With the Lamington National Park right on your doorstep there’s never a shortage of things to do and see. There’s a network of trails of varying lengths that you can follow through the varying forest habitats or guests can join the

Discovery Program and choose from adventure activities, evening spotlighting walks, nightly documentaries, 4WD excursions or interpretive rainforest walks.

Those that seek something more indulgent can head to the infinity lap pool that has views over the mountains or to the Lost World Spa for various therapies.

"Nice resort on top of hinterland mountain - you can hand feed the lorakeets and king parrots and walk the lovely wee tree top boardwalk. There is also a little botanical garden in the rain forest. There is a shop selling all the usual Australiana and a few nice birdy things. From friends i hear that it is uber pricey to stay at the resort." Catd1. Womo.com.au

"Everything about O'Reillys was perfect. The sunsets from our room were stunning every night. Fantastic food! The walks were enough of a challenge to let you know you had exercised with awesome rewards. What views! And the waterfalls. We saw whip birds, pademelons and the beautiful regent bower bird. Thank you to all the wonderful staff we met. You were all vital to the whole experience! We cannot wait to come back!" JaneMark3

"Talk about location and breath taking views, you have come to the right place. I was surprised that there is no sign board called "Welcome to Paradise on Earth". This is how we felt when we stayed at O'Reilly's Mountain Villas. If you have money, this is the place for you to stay with family. While the cost is very expensive, WOW you will have a stay of a life time. Something that you will never forget. Breath taking views Extremely Luxurious Accommodation Beautiful food cooked by their chefs Feeding parrots that fly in the wild Seeing Kangaroos and Wallabies The cleanest air that you can ever breath in life Your own Jacuzzi in your villa. Like I said, before this is Paradise on Earth and the best place for HONEYMOON for couples and also rekindling LOVE for families." Vinesho
